Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we don't, and who we share it with. It's a short list.

The short version
Parlet asks for your name and email so you have an account. Apple handles your payment; we never see your card. We run no product analytics — we do not track how you learn. The website counts page views anonymously. We do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and we have never had a reason to want more of your information than the list below.
Who this covers
This policy covers the Parlet iOS app and the website at parlet.app (together, the “Service”). Parlet teaches Spanish and Italian; it is not a medical, financial, or safety-critical product, and it does not make decisions about you.
What we collect
Your account
Your name and email address, when you create an account. The name is so the app can address you; the email is so you can recover your account and so we can reach you about the Service. That is the whole of it.
Your subscription
Parlet is a paid app with a hard paywall — weekly and yearly subscriptions, no free tier. Purchases go through Apple’s In-App Purchase, which means Apple processes the payment and we never receive your card number, billing address, or any other payment credential. We could not see them if we wanted to.
We use RevenueCat to tell whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt Apple issues, along with an app user identifier and the status of your subscription (active, lapsed, renewed). It does not receive your payment details either, for the same reason.
The website
parlet.app uses Vercel Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless, it stores no personal data, it does not follow you across other websites, and it does not build a profile of you. We use it to answer one question: which pages do people read. Our host, Vercel, also keeps standard server logs (including IP addresses) for a short period, as any web server does, to deliver the site and defend against abuse.
What we don’t collect
This list is longer than the one above, and deliberately so.
- No audio and no microphone access. Parlet has no speaking, pronunciation, or voice feature. The app never asks for your microphone.
- No product analytics. We do not track which lessons you open, which patterns you struggle with, or how long you spend in the app. Our analytics tooling is switched off.
- No location, contacts, photos, calendar, or health data.
- No advertising and no ad trackers. Nothing here follows you to another app or website.
- No selling or sharing your data for anyone else’s marketing, ever. There is no version of this business where we do that.
Why we’re allowed to hold it
Under the GDPR, we rely on performance of a contract for your account and subscription data — we cannot give you an account you paid for without them — and on legitimate interests for anonymous page counts and server logs, which keep the site working and let us see whether it is useful. Where the law requires consent instead, we will ask for it first.
Who else touches it
Only the companies that make the Service run, and only for that purpose. Each is bound by its own contract with us:
- Apple — the App Store and payment processing.
- RevenueCat — subscription status.
- Vercel — website hosting and anonymous page counts.
We do not give your information to anyone else, except where the law compels us to, and we will tell you if that ever happens unless we are legally forbidden from doing so.
Where it lives
Our providers operate internationally, so your information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where that involves personal data leaving the European Economic Area, it is covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved safeguard.
How long we keep it
Your account data lasts as long as your account. Delete your account and we delete your name and email within 30 days, apart from the records we are legally required to keep — chiefly proof-of-purchase and tax records, which we retain for as long as the law demands and use for nothing else. Server logs are discarded within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, hand it to you in a portable form, or stop processing it. Email support@parlet.app and we will respond within 30 days. We will not make you jump through hoops, and we will not charge you.
Deleting your account is available inside the app — you do not have to email anyone to leave. If you are in the EEA or the UK you may also complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the rights to know, delete, and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for using them; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Cancelling a subscription is handled by Apple, through your Apple ID settings — see the Terms.
Children
Parlet is built for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and if the change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
