The rule
English adjectives ending in -ous map to -oso (masculine) in both Spanish and Italian. This is one of the rare patterns where Spanish and Italian land on the exact same ending, which makes it a gift.
The ending agrees with gender: -oso for masculine, -osa for feminine. Famous, curious, nervous, generous, delicious — the family is enormous and it is used constantly in conversation.
